I recommend the construction of a building that shall be capable

of expansion at Victoria Peak, this involves an increase in cost

from $68,790 already approved to $91,440 as far as this year is

concerned.

77.

Regarding 1929 the origin 1 estimate stands in all

details except masts and buildings and an extra for dehumidifying plant which is necesery o ing to the plant being in the fog

belt. The increase for 1929 is 1 rge amounting to $70,250 but

it provides for the centralising of all transmitters at the

Peak, including those from D'Aguilar with the consequent

reduction in working costs, but this centralisation at the Peak cannot be definitely decided on without experimentation,

as interference with the Naval Service has to be considered.

Should the Peak prove suitable, D'Aguilar would be converted to a central receiving station;if the Peak is not possible for all transmitters it may prove more economical to retain D'Aguilar exclusively for the Ship to Shore Service, and the Peck for the fixed station services, hichever is shewn to be best.

8. I have arranged the scheme so that no expenditure will be proceeded with unless warranted, and no building will be erected that will not have use either for transmitting or

receiving plant.

9. In conclusion I may say that the revenue of this Depart- ment is steadily increasing and will provide an ample return on the increased expenditure proposed.
